Why join the Weaving Water community? At Weaving Water, you will wake up steps away from the Eno River and from neighbors with whom you can share a meal, plan a celebration, or enjoy a sunset from the deck. The community upholds a vision of creating a collaborative neighborhood that encourages people to slow down and connect with family, community, and the natural world. They are inviting families with a similar vision to be part of their journey.

Some of the benefits of cohousing include...
- private homes (in Weaving Water’s case, beautifully and thoughtfully designed homes of 800 - 2,000 square foot), each with its own kitchen;
- community and the opportunity to share meals, celebrations, or quiet evenings with neighbors;
- communal spaces complete with an outdoor meadow, gardens, common house, community kitchen, and spaces for various events;
- shared responsibilities such as gardening, meal preparation, and landscaping;
- shared resources such as lawn mowers, guest rooms, and community meals;
- and participatory decision making based on consensus.
The Weaving Water neighborhood represents a new kind of American Dream one that values collaboration over independence and community over isolation. Their main goal is to embrace a grounded way of life.

Imagine living in a sustainably-built home within a multi-generational intentional community, surrounded by meadows and wooded trails, with common gardens, playgrounds, and a common house with a sunset view. The gorgeous land is adjacent to the Eno River State Park in Durham, seven miles from downtown Durham. The neighborhood will be founded on values that encourage people to slow down and connect with family, community, and the natural world. Explore our values in detail.

The Neighborhood: The neighborhood design includes a common house which provides a dining room/movement space, kitchen, shared guest rooms, and everyday access to a phenomenal view of the sunset.
Early members of Weaving Water (those who join by Summer 2019) will have the opportunity to participate in the design of homes and common spaces.
Finally, because the surrounding natural world is its most valuable asset, the neighborhood will incorporate many outdoor spaces, including open clearings for play and gatherings, land for vegetable gardens and manicured beds, and forest nooks. All of this is within walking distance to Eno River State Park trails.

Give Weaving Water a visit at their next outreach session on June 29 from 10 AM - 1PM for a site visit and potluck picnic. There will be a meeting from 10 - 11 AM at the Eno Commons ( 1 Indigo Creek Trail Durham, NC) for general information about cohousing, Weaving Water details, and a Q&A session. Cohousing residents will speak about their firsthand experiences. This event will be a great opportunity to see whether or not cohousing is a good fit for you. The outreach session will be followed by the site visit and picnic at the Weaving Water land (3912 Rivermont Road Durham, NC). If you think you can make it to the event, make sure to RSVP at weavingwaternc@gmail.com for more details!
